St.Albans & District Gymnastics Club
SAADI is now in its 36th year with a current membership of around 100 girls, aged 6 to 16. Principally members are drawn from St. Albans and Harpenden but also Redbourn, Radlett, Hemel Hempstead, Hitchin, Dunstable, Knebworth, Kimpton, Shenley and Wheathampstead and attend 37 different schools.
Almost half the members are now entering competitions at County & Regional levels and 60 of our girls took part in the 31st Annual Club Championships in July 2008.
The gymnasts train at Redbourn Recreational Centre where the club owns all of its Olympic standard equipment of vaults, bars, beam and floor; equipment is paid for and maintained through our fund raising activities and membership subscriptions.
SAADI is a 4-piece competitive gymnastics club which in essence strives to empower girls to perform gymnastic routines, individually in front of their friends and relatives, as well as audiences during competitions. This is a skill that is developed from day-one. Experience has shown us that this confidence transfers across to a whole range of activities that your daughters will encounter throughout life, well beyond gymnastics.

The club is affiliated to British Gymnastics (BG) and girls, on admission to the club, are automatically made associate members. As such, they can enter all BG grading schemes and competitions and are also covered under the BG standard insurance plan. They are also affiliated to the Hertfordshire Gymnastics Association (HGA) and the Eastern Counties Gymnastics Association (ECGA) enabling them to take part in their competitions and activities. Club coaches also benefit from the affiliations as they have opportunities to attend seminars and courses to develop their own coaching skills to the benefit of the whole club.
The club is entirely voluntary with over 20 coaches qualified at Levels 1 to 5. In May 2008, the club hosted a British Gymnastics coach training course attended by 8 of its coaches who all took and passed their examinations in September 2008.
SAADI has been awarded the GymMark award, the British Gymnastics version of Clubmark.
